1.Kerala became 1st State to pass resolution against CAA
Exp:*Kerala became the 1st state in the country to pass a resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act.
*The resolution was moved by Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayee Vijayan and was seconded by the Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala.
*Several other chief ministers of West Bengal, Punjab, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi have also announced for not implementing CAA in their states.
2.Railways renames RPF as Indian Railway Protection Force Service
EXP:The Indian Railways has renamed its security force RPF (Railway Protection Force) as Indian Railway Protection Force Service.
*The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is a security force, enacted by the Indian Parliament for “the better protection and security of railway property”.
*The force is under the authority of the Indian Ministry of Railways.
3.UPSRTC launched ‘Damini’ helpline service for women
Exp: UPSRTC (Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation) has launched ‘Damini’ helpline service considering the safety of the women passengers.
*As the extension of ‘Nirbhaya Yojana’ the unique number “81142-77777” has been subscribed for this helpline.
4. Andhra Pradesh Govt. appoints two ‘Disha Special Officers’
Exp: The Andhra Pradesh government-appointed Indian Administrative Service (IAS) official Dr Kritika Shukla and Indian Police Service (IPS) official M Deepika, as Special Officers for implementing the Andhra Pradesh Disha Act 2019.
*The Act is intended for speedy trial and faster execution in cases of sexual offences against women in the state.
5. GOI signed MoU with Flipkart under DAY-NULM scheme
EXP :Government of India signed MoU with Flipkart for selling the products made by women self-help groups under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) on the e-commerce platform.
6. Piyuus Jaiswal honoured with Global Bihar Excellence Awards 2019
EXP: *Piyuus Jaiswal was awarded the Global Bihar Excellence Award 2019.
*This award was presented by Rajya Sabha MP and Padma Shri Awardee Dr CP Thakur and Bihar Women Commission president Dilmani Devi in Patna to promote women empowerment.
7. Country’s first Super Fab Lab inaugurated by Kerala CM
EXP: Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurates India’s 1st Super Fab Lab in Kochi, Kerala. The Super Fab Lab is being installed in collaboration with KSUM (Kerala Startup Mission). The laboratory will break down barriers between the physical world and the digital world.
8.India appoints Taranjit Singh Sandhu as India’s next Ambassador to USA
EXP: Taranjit Singh Sandhu takes charge as the new Indian Ambassador to the United States. He will succeed Ambassador Harsh Vardhan Shringla. Sandhu is the current High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka since January 24, 2017.
9.IBA appoints Sunil Mehta its chief executive
EXP: Sunil Mehta took over as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA). He will replace VG Kannan, who resigned from office as chief executive of IBA on December 31, 2019.
10.Grammy Awards 2020 Announced –
The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards announced on January 26, 2020. The Awards ceremony was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
11. Dr.N Kumar conferred with Harit Ratna Award 2019
EXP:Dr N Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, has been conferred ‘Harit Ratna Award 2019’. This award is organised by the All India Agricultural Students Association.

1 .On January 29 the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) appointed its executive director Janak Raj as member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), the highest interest rate setting body. Raj replaces M.D. Patra, who was recently elevated as deputy governor of the RBI.The decision to appoint Janak Raj was taken at the 581st meeting of the central board.
